This report from Children’s Health Watch and the Drexel University School of Public Health describes the project they undertook to determine cost/availability of the necessary foods for a healthy diet in Philadelphia using SNAP benefits. The report gives some background about SNAP benefits, as well as some statistics about SNAP participation during the economic recession. The piece ends with some policy suggestions that would strengthen SNAP benefits for low-income residents.
